Whats in a pic???

God knows whats the magic captured in a pic.Quite true that a pic emotes thousand words.Perhaps its leads to a psychological transpose into a world different from the one in which we harbour.Makes us nostalgic..Is that it?May be, for me a pic holds an extended significance. It acts nothing short of oxygen for me, given the reason , that i am a man who lives more in the past than in the present .Whenever i flip throught the old pics of school, there is a sense of victory when i see myself flanked with friends ,whose importance in my life has still not withered a bit. They are still as much close as they were before, and i thank God for that.
But at the same time, i find myslef barely managing to remember names of few ones with whom, my acquaintance is limited to just a orkut scrap here and there.A lot of promises had been made of staying connected in the parting days and what is left now, are the vague images of them and nothing else.A sense of guilt occupies me,overwhelming enough to put me in the escapist mode.Hence, what i do, is console myself by assuming this is the part of the entire list of compromises one makes throughout one's life.
Why is that the face in the pic, unfailingly looks happier , than the one in mirror. Is it just a misinterpretation or an edification of the fact the past is always rosier than the present. A constant reminder that worse is yet to come!Such thought-process may be a natural result of a myopic and pessimistic mindset. And yes, i admit from the core of my heart , that i am one....
I am sure most of us may not be so introspective while observing the pics. This is quite natural as there are better ways to consume time than examining a pic.
But for the rest, a pic holds a special meaning. It acts as a bookmark of life.
we do not 'see' pics...we 'visit' them!

Life is good.....

What an extended honeymoon period this has turned out to be..It can't be more refreshing than getting up at 10am on a monday morning and going to office, with a mood as good as it is on friday evening. The 'TGIF' syndrome doesnt hold out here....let me take you through my entire week schedule that has been consistent over the entire month here in deloitte. Its like living a dream. My day starts with snoozing the alarm clock set at 10 am to as late as possible...By the time i get up, my room partner Praveen has already left for his office. Its tough to get up at 8 on a cosy monday morning. But ,tougher is the task, when you see people beside you lapped up in warm blankets and u march uneasily to the washroom to take a shower and get dressed up.Anyways, kudos to him, for reaching the office on time regulalrly, inspite of so many psycholgical barriers!!
Its 11:45 and i am in my office cafeteria gorging over the wide range of sandwiches offered there.By 12 i reach my desk, shamelessly disregarding the entry time of 11:00 AM 'sharp'.But to my wonder, i see half of the desks unoccupied. And thats not because , people are engaged in meetings and seminars, but because they are still on their way!Anyways i settle down in a minute.and then what starts will go down in the books of corporate as one of the most inventive ways of wasting time in an office. From uploading pictures in orkut to chatting with numerous buddies simultaneously to reading movie reviews, blogs and cricket news, and having intermittent coffee and cigarette breaks , everything looks just tailor-made for the office life i had fantasised... For all those who are wondering, do we get extra time for having our lunch , taking into consideration the 11-8 schedule;let me inform you there is an extra one hour or so allotted for that activity. So after the lunch, we need to get (read act) serious. We sit down with our respective practice projects. The fun with such kind of projects is that the deadlines are so very stretched that one can complete atleast three projects during the assigned period.''Take your time and produce the best'' is what our department motto holds for us. The first part of the motto is religiously observed , though the second part can be compromised or negotiated!
Anyways we wait for the clock to touch 7.After 7 , what is left is wrapping up all converstaions in gtalk, occassionally sending the project status updates to the team lead and saying goodbye to orkut.By 8 to 8:30, i am at my home. The best part of the day is when all the four of us (me, praveen, anindya and shashi) are at dinnertable, eating the home delivery food and discussing our adventures and misadventures in office. Post dinner is the period dedicated entirely to movie watching. From telugu to hindi to english, we watch and appreciate all types of movies. The weekends are more than just happening.Parties, beer, movies and hanging out with old friends form the fodder of the day...48 hours fall way short for all that...Its not that this sort of lifestyle is consistent for everyone around me.There are people who really take up their jobs seriously.I see arnab, sitting at front, eternally engaged and confused in number crunching and finding data patterns in the datasheets. I see srinivas, who sits just next to me, roaming all over the office, and taking feedbacks of what other people are engaged in and whether he is at par with them. Then there is Siddharta and Harsh, for whom, work is above all. They can afford to stay back in office till 12:00 AM and skip their dinner, but make sure, their work is done on time, or, preferably before time.
But for people like me, still fresh from college and relenting to break the old lifestyle, we do what we want. And hence, proudly we can state ....life is good.... :)
